Of all the things that could happen to Virginia Tech Basketball one of the worst possibilities has occurred. The Hokies star point guard who also led the ACC in pts scored this season has declared for the NBA Draft. That’s right Malcolm Delaney might not be a Hokie. The key word in that phrase being might which I am saying only because Malcom has yet to sign an agent and has until May 8th to change his mind. although this move doesn’t look good at all I honestly do not think that he will go to the NBA this year hence the ? mark in the title. Being a die-hard Hokie fan I have seen my fair share of Malcolm Delaney and his great skills and I just don’t think he is an NBA caliber Player YET. Also I do not think he will ever be as good of a player in the pros as he has been in the maroon and orange. A key point to back this up is that he draws a lot of silly fouls that just don’t get called in the NBA. But if Delaney does decide to enter the NBA Draft fortunately the Hokies are covered with Derenzo Hudson and Erik Green returning as guards and the rest of the starters from this years bubble-bursted .Look for Tech to be competitive in the 2010-2011 campaign. Also the Hokies have a good class coming in next season and an amazing class for 2011 which is headlined by 3 Top 50 Recruits including Marquis Rankin a star PG who is rated as the 28th overall recruit in the 2011 class. What makes Rankin’s commitment that much more meaningful is that he choose Blacksburg over Duke,UNC, Wake and NC State. Looking to next year the Hokie’s will have 2 newcomers: 4 star SG Jarell Eddie and 3 star PG Tyrone Garland of Philadelphia. So until next time – so long!!
